How scaled targets work for MTD
Targets are set monthly, but dashboards often show partial months (month-to-date, custom ranges inside a month). Ignyte IQ scales the monthly target to match the viewed date range so Actual vs Goal stays apples-to-apples.
Example
Section titled “Example”| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Monthly target | $300,000 |
| Date range viewed | Feb 1 – Feb 11 (11 days of a 28-day month) |
| Scaled goal | $300,000 × (11 ÷ 28) ≈ $117,857 |
Goal Achievement is computed against the scaled goal, not the full monthly target.
| Date range | Goal shown |
|---|---|
| Full month | Full monthly target |
| MTD (partial month) | Scaled by elapsed days |
| Custom range within the month | Scaled by the range’s days ÷ month’s days |
| Date range outside the target month | Goal not shown |
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”The goal changed when I switched date range. Expected. Goals scale to the viewed range. Switch to the full month to see the unscaled target.
Why doesn’t the goal show for last month? A target must exist for the month being viewed. Check Metric Targets for the relevant month.
