Confirm whether data is stale
Before reading anything into a number that looks wrong, confirm the data isn’t stale. Two checks, in order.
Step-by-step
Section titled “Step-by-step”-
Check workspace health. Click the Data panel button (top-right). Every datasource should show Connected with a recent last updated timestamp.
If anything is Disconnected or stale, reconnect before drawing any conclusions.
-
Check per-metric freshness. Click the ℹ️ icon on the metric tile in question. The Last updated field shows when the metric was last calculated.
For most metrics, this is within minutes of the source’s sync timestamp. For heavier metrics (cohort analysis, LTV trends, RFM segmentation), the metric timestamp can lag the source by an hour or more.
-
Decide.
- Both timestamps recent → the number is current. Move on.
- Source fresh, metric stale by an hour or more → for heavy calculations, this is normal; wait and recheck. For typical metrics, reconnect the datasource.
- Source stale (over normal sync window) → reconnect the datasource.
What “stale” means
Section titled “What “stale” means”| Datasource | Normal sync window |
|---|---|
| Most sources | Within the last hour |
| Klaviyo, some ad platforms | May run slightly longer |
The Data panel itself shows the actual cadence for your workspace, which is the truth for “what’s normal here.”
